Laminate
The most common finish for wardrobes, kitchens and office furniture. Available in matte, glossy and textured wood-tone options, laminate resists scratches reasonably well and is easy to wipe clean. It remains the most budget-friendly option for large surface areas.
PVC
PVC furniture is fully waterproof, making it a strong choice for kitchens, bathrooms and utility areas prone to moisture. It resists termites and does not swell like some wood-based boards, though color and texture options are more limited than laminate.
Acrylic
A high-gloss, mirror-like finish that gives a premium, modern look, commonly used for kitchen shutters and feature wardrobe panels. Acrylic shows fingerprints and minor scratches more visibly than laminate, so it suits surfaces that are not touched constantly.
Wood-tone veneer
For a warmer, natural look, wood-tone finishes replicate timber grain at a fraction of the cost of solid wood. They pair well with a lighter, premium interior style but need slightly more careful cleaning than laminate.
A simple way to decide
For kitchens and wet areas, prioritize PVC or a moisture-resistant laminate. For wardrobes and TV units, laminate offers the best balance of cost and durability. Reserve acrylic for accent panels rather than full furniture runs, and ask to see a physical sample before finalizing -- screen colors rarely match the real finish exactly.
