Humidity during the monsoon months is one of the more common causes of early wear on home furniture. A few simple habits go a long way in protecting wardrobes, kitchen cabinets and other furniture through the season.
Keep air moving
Leave wardrobe and cabinet doors open for a short period on drier days to let trapped moisture escape, particularly in rooms that do not get much ventilation.
Wipe, do not soak
Use a dry or lightly damp cloth to clean laminate and PVC surfaces. Avoid leaving standing water on any surface, especially around joints, edges and near the base of cabinets.
Watch the kitchen base cabinets first
Areas near the sink and under-counter storage are the most exposed to daily moisture. Check for any softening at the edges early in the season, when a small fix is far easier than a later repair.
Use a mild dehumidifier or silica packs where needed
Inside closed wardrobes and cabinets, a small moisture absorber pack can help reduce the risk of a musty smell or mildew developing during extended humid stretches.
When to call for a check
If a shutter starts sticking, a hinge feels loose, or a board edge appears to be swelling, it is worth getting it looked at early. Reach out over WhatsApp or the contact form with a photo, and the team can advise whether it needs a site visit.
